Dr. Eugene Kryshtalskyj
Dr. Eugene Kryshtalskyj earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 1980. As a student he was the Dental Student Society Representative to the Alexandra Park Community Health Care Centre .
Post-graduate hospital training occurred 1980-1981 at Mount Sinai Hospital where experience was gained in advanced dental treatment of medically compromised patients and multi-disciplinary treatment initiatives including pathology and dental implant surgery. It is here that a profound interest in Periodontics evolved.
Dr. Eugene Kryshtalskyj completed his specialty degree in Periodontics in 1983 followed by his MSc(perio) degree (1984) with the MRC Group in Periodontal Physiology, also in Toronto.
Fellowship (FRCD(C)) status in Periodontics was achieved in 1985 following additional examinations also in Toronto.
He was a clinical instructor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry Periodontics division for over 10 years. Dr. Eugene Kryshtalskyj has published many articles in journals such as Archives of Oral Biology, Journal of Periodontal Research, Journal of the Canadian Dental Association, Ontario Dentist, and Oral Health. He has lectured on periodontics and implant dentistry and has a private practice restricted to periodontics and implant dentistry in Toronto, Ontario.
Dr. Eugene Kryshtalskyj is licensed as a specialist in Periodontics by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and has been practicing Periodontics and Implant Dentistry for more than 40 years.
He is a member of The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, Ontario Society of Periodontists, Canadian Association of Periodontology, Ontario Dental Association and Canadian Dental Association.
Dr. Kryshtalskyj is a family man who enjoys bicycling, swimming and exploring the world with his wonderful wife Linda. Living in Toronto, he is also passionate about the city’s numerous sports franchises.
Dr. Eugene Gerald Kryshtalskyj was born and raised in Toronto, completing his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Western Ontario in 2016. He went on to complete a General Practice Residency in Calgary in 2017 through the University of Alberta. He obtained certification in the provision of two-drug intravenous, nitrous and oral sedation during this residency. Practicing in the hospital environment for a year also greatly enhanced his surgical skills and ability to manage patients with complex medical histories.
He is undertaking a residency in periodontics and implant surgery at Dalhousie University in Halifax to become a board-certified periodontist and implant surgeon in his hometown. His educational and professional pursuits in dentistry have allowed him to experience multiple parts of our great country in the service of many communities. He has published articles in Ontario Dentist, Oral Health and Oral Medicine, Pathology and Surgery. Like his father, he keenly follows and supports our city’s many great sports teams and enjoys travelling when possible.
Dr. Eugene G. Kryshtalskyj
Dr. Eugene G. Kryshtalskyj graduated with distinction from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University in 2016.
He went on to complete a general practice residency in Calgary, Alberta at the Foothills Medical Centre where he provided comprehensive treatment to medically compromised patients including unit patients and those undergoing cancer care. He also provided on-call emergency treatment for Calgary and the surrounding region managing, among other things, dento-facial trauma and infections.
During this residency, he became ACLS certified and licensed to provide dual-drug intravenous conscious sedation for patients to optimize their comfort while undergoing dental treatment.
He moved to Halifax in 2017 to complete the 3-year Master of Periodontics degree at Dalhousie University, developing an expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal and peri-implant disease.
He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
In addition to the surgical and non-surgical management of periodontal disease and peri-implantitis, Dr. Kryshtalskyj is proficient in soft tissue grafting, guided bone and tissue regeneration, sinus augmentation, extractions, implant therapy as well as other periodontal procedures.
He has also been published in various journals, including Ontario Dentist, Oral Health and Oral Medicine, Pathology and Surgery.
He greatly values the importance of establishing a strong patient connection, and easing patients fears in what can be an anxiogenic atmosphere.
Having grown up in the suburbs of Toronto, he has a soft-spot for his hometown hockey club (like his father) and has a passion for sports in general.
Having spent 3 years in Halifax mastering periodontics, he is eager to serve the GTA and provide expert periodontal treatment to patients and support referring dentists.
